Frequently asked questions

Is this course a good fit for a 5-year-old?

Absolutely! Our program is specifically designed to support early learners (ages 5+) and their parents.

While in-person lessons can sometimes leave parents feeling unsure of how to help once they get home, our course acts as your "24/7 practice partner." We’ve eliminated the guesswork by providing:

  • Step-by-Step Video Lessons: Clear demonstrations of every technique and piece so you always know exactly what the music should sound like.

  • Parent-Friendly Resources: Detailed practice plans that guide you through every session, ensuring your child stays on the right track.

  • Interactive Progress: Games and quizzes that keep our youngest students engaged and excited to pick up their bow.

  • Expert Support: You are never alone in this journey! For students in our Standard and Premium Plans, I am right by your side through Personalized Video Exchanges. You can send in videos of your child’s playing at any time to receive expert feedback and answers to your questions.

We don’t just teach your child the violin; we empower your entire family to enjoy the magic of music together with confidence!

Is this course a good fit for my teenager?

Yes! We’ve designed this program to respect a teenager’s need for independence while providing the high-level technical structure they need to excel.

Teenagers often move through the foundational levels more quickly than younger children, and our Student-Led Progression allows them to do exactly that—review what they already know and diving deep into new challenges. Here is why teens thrive in our studio:

  • Own Your Practice: Teens love the ability to log in and learn on their own schedule. Our clear Lesson Plans give them total autonomy over their practice sessions without needing a parent to hover.

  • Modern Curriculum: By using the Essential Elements method combined with our Rhythmic Foundations and Effortless Bowing levels, we get students playing recognizable, impressive songs faster.

  • Advanced Tech Tools: Our course platform is mobile-friendly, allowing teens to use their own devices to watch lessons, record their Weekly Challenges, and interact with peers in the community.

  • Direct Expert Access: For teenagers in the Standard or Premium Plans, the Personalized Video Exchanges are a game-changer. They can ask specific technical questions and receive "masterclass-style" feedback directly from their teacher to help them prep for school auditions or solo performances.

Whether they are picking up the violin for the first time or looking to supplement their school orchestra seat, we provide the professional tools a teenager needs to take their playing to the next level.

Is it really possible to learn the violin online?

Absolutely. In fact, online learning allows students to rewind and replay tricky techniques as many times as they need—something you can't do in a 30-minute weekly in-person lesson. Combined with our Video Exchanges, you get the best of both worlds: flexibility and expert feedback.

What if we get "stuck" on a specific song?

Don't worry! Students in the Standard and Premium Plans can send me a quick video clip of the part they find difficult. I’ll send back a personalized "Video Fix" showing them exactly how to adjust their fingers or bow to get over the hurdle.  Students in the Premium Plan also can ask specific questions and get immediate answers during their monthly 1:1 private lesson.

Do you accept ClassWallet or ESA funds?

Yes! We are a registered vendor. To pay via ClassWallet, simply reach out to erin@conradmusic.studio and we will send you the necessary information to get set up for Direct Pay.

Can I cancel or change my plan?

Of course. You are never locked into a long-term contract. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time directly through your account settings.  If you're utilizing ClassWallet as your payment you will need to email: erin@conradmusic.studio and provide a 30 day notice to cancel.

How long does it take to finish a "Level"?

Since the course is student-led/ self paced, every child is different. Some students may master the D String Basics (Level A2) in a week, while others enjoy taking two to three weeks to really let it sink in. The goal is mastery, not speed!

Do we need a music stand and a shoulder rest right away?

Yes! To build healthy posture from day one, a music stand and a properly fitted shoulder rest are essential. You can find my curated list of "Teacher Approved" gear in the Tech & Tools section of your member dashboard.

We don't have a violin yet. Should I buy one before I sign up?

It’s actually better to wait until you join! Inside the course, I provide a "Buying vs. Renting" guide and specific tips on how to avoid "VSO" (Violin Shaped Objects) found on discount sites. For local Arizona students, I can also recommend trusted shops for professional sizing.

What if my child loses interest after a few weeks?

It’s normal for the "honeymoon phase" to fade. That’s why we built the Community Gallery and Weekly Challenges. Seeing other students' videos and receiving "hearts" and comments creates a social bond that keeps students motivated. We focus on "micro-wins" to ensure they feel a sense of accomplishment every time they open the course.
